The latest e-mail from Linkin Park to subscribers is an update from Mike Shinoda; specifically, an e-mail Mike wrote to the rest of the band, now shared with fans:
Gents –
I had an epiphany today about the album. Right now, in the studio, the foundations of the songs are there… I think it’s time to shift into the next gear. Let’s discover the voice of this album…. I want to get into experimentation mode, get weirder, and record more live instruments… I said at the beginning, I want this album to be our best. Let’s do this! Feel free to give me a call to discuss, or we can talk on Monday.
I’m AMPED. -m
It’s dated from the morning of June 17th, with many fans now guessing the album’s release until 2017, making it the first time since A Thousand Suns in which the album takes longer than two years to be produced. For this upcoming album, Mike has noted to fans that a change has come around in the creative process; lyrics and vocals have been written first, opposed to writing revolving around sounds. This past April, the update had been from Mike letting fans know they were choosing their favorite of the final vocals to start building on.
Subscribers were also treated to another surprise from Mike- sign up for e-mails from the band to see it before others HERE.
