Mike Shinoda has talked to quite a few news outlets and previewed 5 songs from the upcoming album in New York City last Friday:
– The album will be called “The Hunting Party” and have 12 tracks
– 5 new track names are revealed: “Keys To The Kingdom,” “The Wastelands,” “Until It’s Gone,” “All For Nothing” (featuring Paige Hamilton of Helmet!) and “Rebellion” (featuring Daron Malakian of System Of A Down)
– two songs feature guests: Paige Hamilton of Helmet on “All for Nothing” and Daron Malakian of System of a Down on “Rebellion”
– album is like a prequel to Hybrid Theory
– they are okay with making music that won’t be played on the radio
– they felt the need to return to a harder edge
– the band is currently busy “tweaking” the songs
– The band self-produced except for one song which was co-produced by Warner Bros Records president and A&R chief Rob Cavallo
– the songs are extremely heavy

Apparently not all the songs are mega heavy. I read that GATS is the mid point. So if there are super heavy tracks, I imagine there will be some soft ones.
