LPUXIII starts with “Basquait” (which I read as Bisquit) a melodic synthesizer piano melody and continues with awesome guitar and drum play. The bigger the song gets to more you’d wish it would’ve been on an actual CD.
Let’s go to the song they used for the promo video of LPUXIII “Holding Company”. It makes you feel like you’re on a holiday with friends enjoying being on the beach and just having fun while dancing around. It’s really different from the other LP Instrumentals. Which is why I like it. Not to mention the silent ending at the end.
I remember when “Primo” was launched. Everyone was like: “Why wasn’t this on LT?” It really is so much better than the original. ” Maybe LP put it on LPUXIII to make us fall in love with them all over again. I personally love the original lyrics: “Just carry on and miss me when I’m gone oh don’t let anyone take my place, Take my place.”
One song that really suprised me was “Cumulus”. The song is so powerful and melodic. Same as “Universe”. I was sceptic when the song started but as usual, the song changes and grows into something really great. Best part on this song is clearly starting after 3:00. Plus the piano at the end.
Then there are the three “Until It Breaks Demos”. It’s interesting to see how different they are from the final version. But the most suprising from this three demos is clearly “Three Band Terror”. You get a two minutes long acoustic song with only Brad singing while playing guitar.
It’s amazing how Linkin Park are able to do so many different songs. There aren’t many bands who are able to suprise you with their different melodies and make you fall in love with them so many times.
Most of the songs are melodic and sure some people would say it’s too much, but I can only say that that’s exactly what I love. We get vocal songs on every album, so why not getting something different on an LPU CD?
Another good point on this LPUNDERGROUND CD is, that we get two tracks by the LPU Session winners Ryan Giles and Beta State. Both songs sound great and unique. It’s a start for them to get one foot into the door of the music industry.
Thank you LP for another great Underground CD. I love you. We love you.
