So, here we go again!
9th Rock am Ring (7th with a ticket xD)
3rd LP Concert
2nd LP Meet&Greet
On Monday we were all sad: the last Rock am Ring edition for forever! What a pity! But no matter… I will remain faithful to the location and the atmosphere of Nürburgring. With LP as the Headliner, it is a worthy conclusion.
A few friends and I arrived at Tuesday 00:00, to get a good spot at the camping place. The long wait was worth it and we have our 30-man-group well at the campground (with 5 LPU Members ^^). After many beers and much Flunkyball-Games, concerts from other great bands on Thursday and Friday (The Offspring, Iron Maiden, Coldrain, Editors, Of Mice & Men, Queens Of The Stone Age and Nine Inch Nails) it’s finally Saturday. Some friends were on their way to the Center-Stage around 1 pm, we LPU members with a M&G could take it easy. At 6 pm we were on our way to the festival site. After the concert from Alligatoah we met with some other LPU members to watch Fall Out Boy together.
At 9:45 pm we went to the M&G venue and waited for LPU staff. After we got our M&G sticker from Missy (M&G “head”) we went directly behind the Center-Stage, where we waited for the band in the backstage area of LP. Missy has taken a few photos from us and some group photos. After a few questions have been answered and the process was clarified, Missy talked about her job and also the cook from LP answered us some question (e.g., Rob is a vegan for 2 years). Eventually Joe came out and grabbed a few things for signing. He drew fake breasts on the back of the shirt from the guy next to me. Typically Joe 😀 After a short time the rest of the band came to us and we took the group photo.
Then we lined up in the backstage area to have out items signed. Brad, quickly on the guitar, was also fast like a flash xD (maybe because he was hungry, the cook brought him something to eat after that).
Dave was more relaxed, he wished us: “Einen schönen guten Tag” [Have a great day], and told us then, that LP come to Germany in November, but shhhhh, its a secret!
Next was Rob, I asked him, why they don´t play Breaking The Habit, but he couldn´t answer it correctly.
Now Chester, he immediately noticed my “WeAreLPU” shield and gave me high five. After I promised him to get in the first row, he gave me a 2nd high five and he wishes us a lot of fun.
Right after him Mike came to us. Mike was so nice to make a little video shoutout for LPFC. I wished them a great show and then the M&G was already over. You can tell LP that they really love their fans, like to spend time with us and that the fans come first.
After the M&G we could go to the A-Sector. LP started the show with the Intro The Catalyst/The Requiem and then we got into the circle pit in the middle of the crowd through Guilty All The Same. We wanted to continue forward, because I promised Mr. Bennington to get into the first row. No matter, all or nothing. Every single song they sung sent me in to a state of happiness and after Given Up, Points Of Authority and One Step Closer we were in the 3rd row.
Chester had a hell of energy during the whole concert. It was epic. The show was a perfect mix of old and new stuff. Next songs were Blackout, Papercut, With You, Runaway, Wastelands, Castle of Glass and the LOATR/SOTD/Irisdescent-Medley.
The performance was great, by stunnning visuals on the massive cubes over Joe and Rob. Especially by the next songs Robot Boy and the solo from Joe. Incredible! Next Burn It Down, Waiting For The End and Mikes solo. So sick, still can´t believe it. I think the setlist is the best ever. After these “slow” songs they continued with Numb, In The End and Faint.
Chester´s intense attitude and stage personality contrasts perfectly with Mike´s constant smiles and his talent on the guitar and keys. After a short break after Faint, they hit the stage again for an encore. First some new songs, Until Its Gone, then A Light That Never Comes and Lost In The Echo. I wished the concert would go on forever xD but now the last songs, Crawling, New Divide, What I´ve Done and the big finale with Bleed It Out. After almost 30 songs, I am completely done and overjoyed. What a show!!!
After this awesome gig, we took a photo with some LPU members right in front of the Center-Stage and some of us went to the campground. A friend and I ate something and went then to the Alterna-Stage to see Jan Delay until 02:30 am 🙂
Because of the strenuous Saturday and the heat we went back to the festival site on 6 pm on sunday. We saw Crazy Town (Butterfly, wohoo), Alter Bridge, Avenged Sevenfold, Babyshamples and my 2nd highlight: the amazing Boysetsfire (the singer Nathan also came out after the concert, jumped over the wavebreaker and even took a few pictures with the crowd). Marteria was the last act we saw and the last Rock am Ring was history. It was an awesome weekend and I´m excited to see LP in November. See you there!
Greetings Jennifer
