Hey dudes. It’s me, Adam. Just when you thought you got rid of me forever, I’m back in your lives all over again. I promise I’ll keep it brief.
Melissa (Adie) asked me to write up a blog about the House of Blues show from last year. That feels like a million years ago so I’ll do my best to recap.
I don’t remember a ton of specifics about the show itself. It was an LPU show. Everyone there was an LPU member, which was pretty awesome. I think the show was a Power the World benefit as well. I remember there was a big Power the World logo behind the band during the set. This was also where we unveiled the customized Linkin Park Honda Civic.
The one thing I remember specifically about this show is this is where I “met” a lot of the crew. Prior to this, I’d been all over the place doing Summits, but I’d really only worked closely with Cory, Megumi, Maurice and Jim, so I didn’t know the other guys really. A week after this show was when we were leaving for the European tour. I remember that I had to get from the front of the venue to the production office to get something, so as I’m walking on the patio at the from of the venue, a group of crew guys are sitting around talking. I walked past and one of them yelled “Aren’t you even going to say hi?” I turned around, and saw it was Sean Paden, Brad’s guitar tech. I’d never really talked to Sean at that point, but saw him at all the Summits so I knew who he was. I said, “uh… hi. I’m going on tour with you guys.” Then Sean said, “Do you even know our names?” “Um, maybe a few?” I said. Then Sean asked me to give it a shot. I got through Sean and Pooch, and I think that was it. Fiore walked by and tried to give me hints, but it didn’t work. Sean invited me to sit down so I did and we started talking. Sean told me about his Green Guitar Project and asked if I wanted to see one. I said sure so he took me on stage to see the guitar he’d built. As we were on the stage talking, Jim Digby walked by and Sean yelled “Hey Jim! Make sure Adam is on our bus in Europe!” Sure enough, I ended up on the back line bus for the European tour.
I don’t know if that’s what Melissa was looking for when she asked for a recap, but I saw about a zillion Linkin Park shows last year so picking out the specifics of just one was hard!
I do remember it was an awesome show and I’m sure the Sunset Strip Music Festival show will be as well! If you’re going, have fun!
Adam
