LP Recharge at Microsoft Lounge in LA – A Night to Remember….
September 10, 2013 finally had arrived to find out if I was one of the lucky winners of the Los Angeles Special Area Event with the members of Linkin Park. I remember checking my email and junk mail every hour. As the day ended, I was feeling a little bummed that I didn’t receive an email from LPU HQ.
The next day, at about 1:30pm I noticed I had received two text messages from my LPU friends Dayna Brisco & Brandon Tepazano at 11:30 am asking me if I wanted to be a guest for the LP Recharge Party. I was thinking to myself, “Damn they texted me two hours ago, It’s probably too late!” I texted them both right away, asking them both if they were for real and yes, I would love to!
Two hours left of work, I already lost my focus. All I can think about at that point was finally having the opportunity to meet the members of Linkin Park, it’s a dream of mine. In the past, I signed up for the meet & greets for the LA concerts/ Vegas concert but was never chosen.
When I arrived at the Microsoft Lounge with some of my LPU friends, there were LP Recharge T-shirts laid out on the tables and a couple of TV screens had LP Recharge on. People were either playing the game or mingling with other LPU members, it was a very cool and fun setting. Few minutes before the event began, Lorenzo from LPUHQ was passing out LP Recharge posters to all the fans for the members to sign.
The moment had finally arrived when Ted Stryker from KROQ introduced the members of Linkin Park. I could feel my heart beating, the smile on my face getting bigger. The excitement that I felt was so overwhelming. My dream had finally came true to finally meet the members of my favorite band.
The doors began to open up, I see Joe, Mike, Phoenix, and Brad walk in one by one, my scream gets louder. Seeing them this close and not on stage was amazing!
After they introduced and spoke about the game and answered questions from the crowd, we had the opportunity to get pictures taken with them and get anything signed by them.
Phoenix was the first one that signed my poster. I met him by luck last year at a Japanese restaurant in Irvine, Ca having dinner with his wife sitting across from him. He smiled at me gave me this look that he had seen me before. I told him I met him last year and he asked me to refresh his memory. So I told him that I met him at a Japanese restaurant with his wife. He name the spot and I said, “Yep that was me!” I introduced myself to him again and we chatted a little bit and cracked some jokes before our picture was shot, it was totally cool.
Next came Joe, it was funny! As he was signing my poster, I asked him if can get a shot with him. He looked so serious and said, “No you can’t!” I said, seriously!” He smiled and said, ” Yah for sure” After the picture he let out a little chuckle so I asked him if he made a silly face or gave me bunny ears. He laughed and said he only gave me one ear. Ha.
Then came Brad, it was a quick hello and a smile.
The last person that came around was Mike. I started to feel real nervous because Mike is my favorite of them all. Once he approached me, all I could remember was just feeling really shy and speechless. I said hello and introduced myself. I thought I was going to die when he smiled back at me! I asked him if it was cool if we got a shot together and he replied back saying it was cool! That whole time I thought I was dreaming it was so surreal!!
The whole night was just an amazing and unforgettable evening that I will never forget! Not only did I get to meet the four members of my favorite band, I got the opportunity to finally meet people for the first time that I chat with and follow on Instagram,Twitter, and LP Underground. I got a chance to meet Ted Stryker from KROQ and Lorenzo Errico from LPUHQ who I also follow and occasionally chat with on Twitter, and Instagram.
I also, got to hang out with the LPU members that I met along the way from previous LP events.
The first time I met Phoenix last year, I thought he was very cool guy with a kick back and chill kind of guy and I felt that way about him when I chatted with him at the party. With the other guys, I always heard from my friends who have met them from previous events also stated that are the nicest guys out there and are very laid back! Now, I can finally say the same thing.
Thanks to Jackie Tepazano for being her guest for the evening, Dayna Brisco and Brandon Tepazano for contacting me. It was definitely a night to remember and an epic experience of a lifetime!
