Just minutes ago, Linkin Park announced in a top secret press conference that in two days they will open the first “Linkin Theme Park” in Hollywood!
The theme park contains a multitude of attractions, all related to the band’s history:
“In the first section, there is something like an ego shooter, just in real life, in an arena. This is the Hybrid Theory section, and we thought that a sort of soldier game would be perfect, because the soldier is an important symbol of Hybrid Theory. Joe even designed the original wings for the visitors to wear in collaboration with Prada”, explains drummer Rob Bourdon.
Other attractions include:
– a children’s zoo where the visitors can pet and ride on creatures from Linkin Park videos like “In the End” or “Somewhere I Belong” in collaboration with the UCLA’s Institute for Genetic Engineering
– the “House of Crying Sandwiches” – a horror house modelled after the interactive LOST IN THE ECHO video
– the “Raid Freefall Tower” from which the visitors can experience the longest freefall in a theme park worldwide – after they fought their way to the top (sponsored by Felix Baumgartner)
– the three “Lightspeed” roller coasters called “Bleed it Out”, “In my Remains” and – especially for children – “Crawling”.
– the “Power the World” hamster wheel which will provide electricity for the whole theme park if enough people run in it
– the “Spacekin Park” in which visitors can learn how to navigate a real space ship while simultaneously recording their own version of “Leave out all the Rest”
The other attractions will be unveiled at noon on April 3rd: “The opening event is one of the biggest projects I have ever worked on. We’ve started planning it over 4 years ago after a crew trip to Disney World, and I can’t wait to finally see the product of our efforts”, says Linkin Park’s marketing manager Adam Ruehmer.
Mike Shinoda and Dave Farrell will also attend the unveiling and are said to open the park with the first ride on “Bleed it Out”.
The theme park was built in the area right under the Hollywood sign, but is currently still hidden from view with a huge dome created by the NASA. The dome makes the area appear as if nothing is there, but at the big unveiling on April 3rd, the biggest theme park built on North-American soil will see the light of day.
