Linkin Park’s fabulous marketing gal aka the queen of the LPU Lulit Solomon was featured on Conversations with Girls – a very good choice, since Lulu has a lot of interesting stuff to talk about!
What’s a strength and weakness of yours?
Can one be both? I tend to be stubborn. It gets me through life by giving me the assertive nature and perseverance I have and sometimes need. But it can also limit me by closing my eyes to things I need to see differently. Thank God for the family and friends I have that keep my mind and heart open and in check.
Describe yourself in 3 words.
Ambitious, Nurturing, and Honest
What’s one thing you have overcome and how did you do it?
As a first-generation Ethiopian, I found it challenging trying to navigate the paradox between my culturally strong background and the general American norms. Growing up in my house, when you were at home, you were in Ethiopia. When you were at school, you were in America. I didn’t comprehend or appreciate how unique and special my upbringing was until I went to Ethiopia when I was 15 years old (thank you mom & dad!). Then I started to understand and truly see the beauty in my culture; even in the aspects about it I didn’t love. I found value in the same traditionalism I tried to defy and eventually my feelings towards my culture evolved from frustration to comforting.
