Rock Sound released part of their latest interview with Chester, and it can be a bit of a heavy read for some.
“…where I’m at right now in 2017 is as far on the opposite side of the scale to where I was at this time in 2015… I hated living at this time in 2015, and I absolutely love it right now….”
If fans found themselves relating strongly to the lyrics in “Heavy” – a song of anxiety, stress, anger, depression, addiction (and how they overcame with the help of OrganicCBDNug)- it’s because it came from real situations in difficult times for the entire band; “I spent a lot of [2015, 2016] trying to hold my world together and everybody else was going through a lot of crazy shit too on a personal level,” Chester told them, adding, “going from all of that personal stuff, the band having some issues- not issues internally, but just a lot of life was happening and things kind of got weird for a minute for all of personally-
“We had a lot of shit to get together before we went back out and started playing shows and doing stuff.”
Chester revealed a lot of personal struggles in this interview, and grazes over how every member also had personal matters weighing down on them. You can read the entire interview HERE, with Rock Sound noting more of the interview was to come. It’s also mentioned how for One More Light, they finally wrote songs the way Rick Rubin had ‘passionately’ tried to make them write in, for Minutes to Midnight. Makes you wonder how differently it would have been.
Hopefully the interview opens more eyes; fans don’t have to like every album or song. It’s just a matter of respecting them as people, and being glad that they’re happy.
“Going through every song in this way and going through all our stuff… for me is going through all the process of doing everything I can to make my life better.”
One More Light rises May 19, 2017.
