Linkin Park have released the official lyrics to their new single, Good Goodbye (feat. Pusha T & Stormzy) on Genius.
The article quotes Mike and Chester about the inspiration behind this track, respectively:
I’m a basketball fan. When I was writing this song, I wanted to capture that moment at the game when someone fouls out, and the cheerleaders sing and kick out the ejected player.
We wanted this song to apply to two things at the same time: someone getting kicked out of a game, and someone getting out of a bad relationship.
This isn’t the first time the band has collaborated with Pusha T. He did a verse for “I’ll Be Gone” on the 2013 remix album, Recharged. You can listen it here.
As for Stormzy, he is an English grime artist who just released his debut album, Gang Signs & Prayer. In this video, Mike and Chester discuss how the band reached out to him because they like his music, even though he is not well known in the US, yet huge in the UK.
“Good Goodbye” doesn’t have a premiere date yet, but both “Heavy” and “Battle Symphony” had lyrics revealed first and the song was available a few days later, so keep an eye for it.
