Among all the Linkin Park Fansites, LinkinLady.net is probably the most specialized one – it is solely dedicated to the wives, girlfriends and children of Linkin Park. Since the bandmembers all try to keep their private lives out of the spotlight, it must be pretty hard to maintain such a website without violating the band’s privacy – a fine line to walk, but Jen, admin of Linkin Lady, has managed to do that. Read here how she did that and learn more about the history and future of Linkin Lady!
When was Linkin Lady founded? Can you briefly describe the process?
Jen: My sister actually founded it in January of 2003 on Yahoo! Groups because at the time neither one of us knew to much about running websites. It turned out to be quite the hit so I looked into making it into an actual website. I took it over completly after my sister got married. Later I added a few trusted friends to help post things.
What was the main reason of starting the site?
Jen: My sister and I would see pictures of Chester and Samantha together in pictures and thought it was really sweet. She started thinking others may feel the same way so she came up with the idea to do the site.
What were your personal highlights in the history of Linkin Lady so far and were there moments when it was hard to maintain the site?
Jen: I think one of the biggest highlights for me was when I was sent the family photo of Chester, Talinda and Tyler.
I also had some moments after the stalker situation that really made me question if I should keep running the site or not.
Among the LP fansites, Linkin Lady stands out because it mostly deals with the bandmembers’ girlfriends/wives of the bandmembers. It must be hard to walk the fine line between journalism and respecting the private lives of the bandmembers. How do you manage that?
Jen: It used to be hard sometimes because you can easily get carried away in posting something exclusive or first, but I tried to stop and think a bit before I would post. I’d ask myself if it was to personal or just a rumor; if I thought it was I wouldn’t post it.
Do you think that there are features of the site that many fans seem to overlook? If yes, can you briefly describe those features?
Jen: Off the top of my head I can only think that maybe the Kids page is overlooked sometimes. I try and keep it updated just so everyone can know how many kids the guys have since the fans are curious.
What have you planned for Linkin Lady in the future? Is there a part of the site that you want to improve on?
Jen: Unbelievably the site will be 10 years old next year! I want to try and do something special to celebrate that.
I want the whole site to be really easy to navigate so I am going to keep working on ways to make that happen.
Huge thansk to Jen for this interview! Remember to check LinkinLady.net for regular updates about our favourite band’s ladies!
