On March 2, 2012 Mike Shinoda posted on his blog about their business manager Jonathan Schwartz whose childhood friend had died from a heart attack at the age of 42, “Recently, our band’s business manager, Jonathan, shared a shocking story with us. His childhood friend had passed away from a heart attack at the young age of 42. At the funeral, Jonathan and his friends were talking about their mutual friend’s passing, and decided to all get their hearts checked.
Jonathan went to the doctor, who recommended a “CT Angiogram.” It bears mentioning that Jonathan is, at a glance, a very healthy guy. He’s arguably fitter than I am, eats better, and exercises more often. He has a wife and beautiful children. He had absolutely no reason to believe he had heart problems. Jonathan was waiting for results in the doctor’s office. The doctors came in, and were obviously not happy.
Jonathan was terrified. They told him he had nearly 100% blockage in his heart. If he didn’t get immediate attention, he would have likely been dead within the month.
After calling his family and crying on the phone, he went into surgery. He ended up receiving a stent to restore blood flow, and decided to take on a lifetime change in diet and lifestyle. Since then, he has started a foundation called the Heartview Global Foundation. Their goals include: creating a fund to pay for the CT Angiogram for people who can’t afford it, spreading the message of awareness, and encouraging more medical insurance companies to cover the cost of these life-saving tests. Jonathan’s personal goal is to “save thousands of lives.”
On the foundation’s website, he includes in his Chairman’s Statement, “My friend’s passing saved my life, and now I want to help improve and possibly save the lives of thousands of people. This is why I started a non-profit called HeartView Global Foundation.”
On February 22, 2014 in Westlake Village, California Linkin Park was awarded by the Heartview Global Foundation with an award. Tickets to attend the event was $500 or tables could be sponsored in amounts of Bronze $5000, Silver $7500, & Gold $10,000. Proceeds from the event as well as a silent auctionwas held at the event and monetary amounts benefit the foundation. This is the information found so far but nothing yet about the award or what was said at their acceptance speech but here are some HQ photos taken by Michael Delmonte from Los Angeles. We will post if & when information is available.
Anyone else excited for 2014 Linkin Park news?! Mike tweeted yesterday a pic from where he is captioned, “Recharging in the snow. This week is going to be an action packed week. Stay tuned.” Were the tweets from that one DJ not a rumor after all? What does this mean? Or are you trolling again Shinoda? Trolling is soooooooo 2013! Whatever this means, we’re all very excited & ready.
